Frequently Asked Questions
Starting Martial Arts
Do I need prior martial arts experience to join AIMS?
No experience is necessary. Our program is designed for complete beginners as well as experienced practitioners. We meet you where you are and guide you through a structured progression.
Am I too old or out of shape to start martial arts?
There is no “perfect” starting point. Martial arts is about growth. Training is scaled to your ability and developed at a sustainable pace.
Is AIMS good for beginners?
Absolutely. Our structured classes are beginner-friendly and designed for progressive learning.
Is the Youth/Junior program safe for kids with no experience?
Absolutely. In fact, most of our students begin their martial arts journey with zero prior experience. Our Juniors program is specifically designed to be a safe, welcoming, and non-intimidating environment for beginners. We prioritize safety and technical fundamentals above all else.

Equipments
We provide all necessary equipment free of charge for students joining us on a free trial, drop-in, or day pass.
Upon becoming a member, we encourage you to invest in your own gloves and shin guards. Having your own equipment ensures a better personal fit and maintains the highest standards of hygiene during training.
The purchase of a ranking (white) belt is required for our Jeet Kune Do curriculum. Students keep each belt they earn as they advance through the ranks.
As you progress, we will recommend appropriate gear.
What to wear for the class
Wear comfortable athletic clothes like a T-shirt, rash guard, shorts, or leggings. To ensure safety and protect our mats, please avoid clothing with zippers, buttons, or pockets. All classes are conducted barefoot.
We will guide you on recommended attire after enrollment.
Memberships, Day Pass, Drop-in
For memberships, please visit us at the studio to sign up in person.
Is the monthly membership active starting from the date of purchase?
Your membership begins on the date of purchase. If you need a different start date for billing purposes, just let us know — we’re happy to accommodate.
What day of the month does the billing circle start?
Your billing cycle begins on the date of purchase. If you prefer a different billing date, just let us know — your membership can be set to start on that date instead.
Do you have a cancellation policy, like a cut-off date to stop the automatic account charge?
Yes — you can cancel at any time. We kindly ask for 30 days’ notice to process the request. Your membership will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle, and you’re welcome to continue training through that time.
What is the unused credits policy?
Each membership includes a set number of classes per billing cycle (e.g., up to 12 classes per month). Unused classes expire at the end of the cycle and do not roll over. This structure is designed to help you stay consistent, build momentum, and get the most out of your training. If you need more flexibility, we’re happy to help you choose a plan that better fits your schedule.
Is the account freeze available?
Yes — we understand that schedules and life circumstances can change. Members can place their membership on hold for a $50 fee per billing cycle. For medical situations, we’re happy to offer complimentary freezes with a doctor’s note. Just speak with our front desk and we’ll take care of you.
